Jana’s Soap Box is a cottage endeavor located in Conroe, Texas. It began as a way to channel creative energy into a hobby that is both fulfilling and useful. Soap is an essential necessity of our daily life. Hand crafted soap takes that necessity and elevates it to a level that is beneficial for our bodies as well as pleasing to our senses.
Using the traditional cold process method and an all vegetable base recipe, Jana’s Soap Box soap is made in small batches in our home kitchen. Essential oils, fragrance oils, herbs and botanicals are added to the soap to impart skin nourishing and aromatic qualities to each bar.
Jana’s Soap Box hand crafted soaps along with our herbal pillows, offer a luxurious and affordable way to pamper yourself for a few minutes every day. Go ahead and treat yourself. You deserve it.

ABOUT SOAP
Jana’s Soap Box soap is handcrafted in small batches using the finest olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, soy oil and shea butter. Essential oils, skin safe fragrance oils, herbs and/or botanicals are added to impart skin nourishing and aromatic qualities. Sodium hydroxide (lye) is added to the oils to cause the chemical reaction that turns the oils into soap. This reaction is called saponification. During the saponification process, the lye is absorbed and natural glycerin is formed. Glycerin helps to soften and moisturize your skin. The soap is then cut by hand and cured for one month creating a very mild, skin nourishing and luxurious bar.
HAND CRAFTED SOAP VERSUS COMMERCIAL SOAP
Hand crafted soap is better for you than commercial soap because of the ingredients used and the finished product. The natural oils used in hand crafted soap each have properties that are beneficial to the skin. For example, coconut oil is moisturizing and helps to prevent chapped skin and premature aging. Palm oil is high in saturated fat. Olive oil is rich in vitamin E, is an antioxidant, it stimulates new cell generation and slows the progression of wrinkles. Soy oil is conditioning. Shea butter is moisturizing, leaves skin smooth and soft and is healing. Essential oils impart various beneficial qualities, including aromatherapy qualities. Because of the moisturizing and skin nourishing qualities of hand crafted soap, you should find your skin feeling suppler and your need for lotions decreasing.
Commercially made soap is quite different from hand crafted soap. Many of them are not soap at all, but rather detergent or cleansing bars. Many commercial soap manufacturers harvest the glycerin from the soap and sell it for other purposes. Some add fillers, chemicals, petroleum products and have a high animal fat content. A bar of commercial soap may cost a little less that a handcrafted bar of soap, but the quality and benefits to your skin and health cannot compare.
The next time you’re in the grocery store, look at the commercial “soap” packaging. How many of the ingredients do you recognize? Here are just three of the ingredients approved by the FDA that are commonly used in commercial soap: Tetrasodium EDTA; Peg-8 and Triclocarban. I encourage you to look them up on the internet and determine if these substances are something you wish to continue to subject your health to. High quality hand crafted soap is a much better alternative for you and your family.
